Rosie O’Donnell took to social media to apologize to her dear friend, Wynonna Judd, for earlier assuming that she was a Donald Trump supporter. O’Donnell said that Judd had clarified that she had sung for all presidents, no matter which wing they belonged to. These remarks came after O’Donnell said in August that she couldn’t imagine anyone close to her supporting Trump, and then criticized the president’s behavior and character.

Rosie O’Donnell shared a picture of Wynonna Judd along with a brief message, apologizing for having previously assumed her friend’s political views. “I was wrong to assume Wy was a Trump supporter just because she performed at marlargo – but as she told me she has sung for seven presidents on both sides of the aisle,” she wrote. O’Donnell stated that she had initially apologized privately and wanted to do so publicly as well. She also showed support for Judd’s new tour and encouraged fans to go and watch her.

O’Donnell appeared on Kyle Ridley’s “The Tangle” podcast, where she made bold claims about Judd’s political stance. “Now, I am friends with Wynonna Judd, who I love very much, and I’ve known her for many, many years. And she is a supporter of Trump. And somehow, we never bring it up,” she said. O’Donnell added that she gives Judd some grace because of the difficult experiences she has had in her life.

Last week, during a conversation with PEOPLE, Judd revealed that she was shocked by O’Donnell’s comments. She claimed that she has never spoken to her friend about anything political in her whole life. Judd clarified that O’Donnell has no idea about her stance and that she’s “independent.”

“I don’t know where it came [from]. It’s complete assumption. I heard it and I went, ‘What the…?’ I don’t ever remember talking to her about this, so she’s just assuming.’ I just don’t want drama. So if there’s going to be drama [about it], I’m like, ‘Oh for crap’s sake, there’s so much going on right now in the world. Can we just love each other?” Judd elaborated.
