- Whoopi Goldberg lambasted Donald Trump on 'The View' after he claimed that he thought the since-deleted AI photo of himself as Jesus instead portrayed him as a doctor.
- Goldberg's cohosts piled on, with Sonny Hostin zinging JD Vance's command of Christianity.
- Goldberg also issued a word of "caution" to Vance over his comments about Pope Leo XIV.
Whoopi Goldberg isn’t buying Donald Trump’s claim that he believed the AI-generated image he posted of himself as Jesus instead portrayed him as a doctor. And, honestly, she doesn't think anyone else believes him, either.
The 79-year-old president has repeatedly caused a furor among Christians in recent days, lashing out at Pope Leo XIV and then sharing a since-deleted image of himself as a Christ-like figure healing a sick individual as Americans and weird blobs that might be angels gazed upon his miracles.
When the rendering sparked a vocal backlash among his supporters, Trump deleted the image and claimed he believed the image depicted him as a doctor and “had to do with the Red Cross" instead.

'The View' cohosts Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
But Goldberg isn’t convinced.
“Nobody believes you were a doctor. Nobody,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of* **The View*, taking a moment to speak directly to the president. “Your people don’t believe it. Nobody believes it. They all saw what you were trying to do. You were trying to make some sort of weird statement.”
Goldberg also offered a word of “caution” to vice president JD Vance after he recently claimed on Fox News that Pope Leo should “stick to matters of… what’s going on in the Catholic Church and let the president of the United States stick to dictating American public policy.”

“I would caution the vice president that one of the things that the Pope is supposed to do is to make us aware that war is wrong,” Goldberg contended. “And we should find other ways to do things before we go to war.”
Her cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in to agree, adding, “And Jesus said that as well. Jesus came in peace. Blessed are the peacemakers.”
Additionally, Sunny Hostin pointed out that “JD Vance is the highest-ranking Catholic” in the current administration. Although, she noted, “He may need to go back to Sunday school.”
Goldberg, in turn, quickly wrapped up the conversation between her *View* cohosts, acknowledging that Vance’s mastery of religious texts is a discussion that would have to wait for another time as they cut to commercial break.

Hostin previously called Trump’s Jesus photo “blasphemous” and called for the use of the 25th amendment to remove him from office on Monday’s episode of *The View*.

Hostin on 'The View'.
“I think our founding fathers did a lot of things right, and the 25th amendment is there for a reason,” she said. “No one that holds that office, which is arguably the most powerful office in the world, does things like that.”
*The View* isn't the only talk show reacting to Trump's since-deleted photo. *Daily Show* host Jon Stewart also shared his thoughts on the image, noting that the man that Trump was healing with his hands looked a lot like himself.
“I know I don’t have the vigor and spunk of my MTV days, but I didn’t know we were here already,” Stewart teased. “I didn’t realize my look had reached leper territory. I mean, from the picture, it looks like it was touch-and-go with me for a while.”
*The View *airs weekdays on ABC.
