Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Outlook 2026: Elite Floor, Conditional Ceiling
Jonathan Taylor heads into his age-27 season looking like a very safe pick in the back half of Round 1 of your 2026 fantasy football drafts. He brings one of the most reliable scoring baselines in the league, having scored double-digit rushing touchdowns in every single season where he’s managed to play at least a dozen games. Finding that kind of locked-in goal-line equity is tough, but it’s not the only reason his fantasy floor is so secure right now.
Should I Draft Jonathan Taylor in Fantasy Football?
Last year, Taylor expanded his role in the passing game, drawing a career-high 55 targets and pulling in 46 of them. That extra involvement as a receiver is a big deal when it comes to an offense with some question marks. It means he is far less likely to be game-scripted out if the team falls behind early, making him a much stronger, versatile asset in PPR and half-PPR formats.
With that said, a massive chunk of Taylor’s ceiling is tied directly to the quarterback situation. Right now, all the reports surrounding Daniel Jones are positive. If Jones is truly healthy and moving the chains, it elevates the entire offense, sustains drives, and creates much lighter defensive fronts for Taylor to run against.

However, if Jones suffers a setback or gets injured, Taylor’s case to be considered a true Tier 1 running back takes a huge hit. JT was held under four yards per carry in five straight games to close last season and I don’t think that’s a mistake. If the quarterback play falters, the overall offensive environment could crumble fast, dragging Taylor’s rushing efficiency right down with it.

That’s harder to swallow now than in the past given the names you are picking him over and the depth of the talent at the position.

You also have to keep his health profile in mind when drafting. While he held up well recently, Taylor missed multiple games in three straight seasons prior to 2025. Taking him in the back half of the first round is a smart move because the touch volume and touchdown upside feel close to guaranteed when he is on the field.
You just have to acknowledge that his absolute ceiling requires stable quarterback play. That’s not scaring me off of him, but you do need to go into this season with your eyes wide open.
