Michael Trevino is officially a dad!

The 42-year-old actor, who starred as Tyler Lockwood across eight seasons of* **The Vampire Diaries*, has welcomed his first child with his wife, Dutch model and actress Bregje Heinen. The couple shared their happy news with a sweet photo of their new family on Instagram on Monday.

"Jack Wild Trevino," they captioned the joint post, revealing their son's full name. The accompanying photo sees baby Jack holding the fingers of both his parents.

The news was met with excitement from friends and fans alike, who took to the comments section to wish the couple and their newborn well. Among the kind commenters were a few of Trevino's fellow *Vampire Diaries* alums.

Nina Dobrev, who led the show as Tyler's friend Elena Gilbert, wrote, "Congratulations!!!! Love all 3 of you!"

Kayla Ewell, who played Vicki Donovan, an early love interest for Trevino's Tyler, wrote, "Couldn't be more excited! Welcome Jack!" Her husband Tanner Novlan chimed in as well, adding, "Biggest congrats!!"

After beginning their relationship in January 2020, Trevino and Heinen got engaged in 2023 and tied the knot two years later. They announced that they were expecting at the start of 2026, sharing an Instagram Story post that featured a montage of their recent milestones.

"We've had a pretty great year," Heinen captioned the post. "Promise this isn't just another wedding video."

The post began with clips from the wedding ceremony before revealing a peek at an ultrasound. Trevino then held up an image of the ultrasound photos to the camera and another clip showed Heinen noticeably pregnant with a baby bump.

At the time, Candice King — who starred as Trevino's longtime onscreen love interest Caroline Forbes on *The Vampire Diaries* — wished him and Heinen well on their parenting journey.

"So so SOOOO excited for you guys!!!!," she commented on the post. "Big love to you both Momma and Dada!"

King is also expecting a child: her third baby and first with husband Steven Krueger (another member of the *TVD *franchise), whom she married in a private February ceremony.

King and Trevino aren't the only *Vampire Diaries* alums who have expanded their families in recent months. Kat Graham, the actress behind Bonnie Bennett, welcomed her first child last month. Graham and husband Bryant Wood named their son after a character from William Shakespeare's* The Tempest*, announcing that he would be called Prospero 'Spero' Nyemah Wood.
