Terri Irwin reflected on her memories of making 2002’s The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course with her late husband Steve

She called the movie “the adventure of a lifetime”

The couple’s daughter, Bindi Irwin, commented about how “lucky” she feels to have been part of the movie with her parents

Terri Irwin is looking back at a special time in her life.

On July 14, Terri, 61, posted on Instagram in honor of the 24th anniversary of the 2002 film The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course. The movie starred Terri and her husband Steve Irwin as fictionalized versions of themselves as they attempted to save a crocodile from “poachers” who turned out to be agents with the CIA. The movie was based on Steve and Terri’s hit wildlife documentary series The Crocodile Hunter, which had begun airing in 1996 and became a worldwide hit.

“It’s been 24 years since the premiere of The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course,” Terri wrote on Instagram, alongside photos of her, Steve and their daughter Bindi from the production of the film and the movie’s premiere. “What a time we had. Best crew, best fun, and the adventure of a lifetime. So grateful we were able to film this action-packed movie. Loved every minute!”

Bindi, 27, also chimed in with a comment. “I feel so lucky to have been part of this with you and Dad,” she wrote under the post. “Thank you for bringing me along for every moment. I’m so lucky to have the best parents in the entire world. I love you and Dad with all my heart. ❤️”

The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course also starred Magda Szubanski, David Wenham, Lachy Hulme and Aden Young. The movie, which was produced for $12 million, made $33 million at the box office.

Steve and Terri welcomed another child, Robert, in 2003. Steve died three years later, in 2006, at the age of 44, when he was pierced in the chest by a short-tail stingray barb while filming the 2007 documentary Ocean’s Deadliest.

Before his death, Steve was dedicated to conservation, environmentalism and wildlife education, and he and Terri also hosted the TV series Croc Files and New Breed Vets. They also co-owned and operated Australia Zoo, which was founded by Steve’s parents.

Since his death, Terri, Bindi and Robert, 22, have continued his legacy, including leading the Australia Zoo. Bindi also hosted her own nature series, Bindi the Jungle Girl, for two seasons, from 2007 to 2008.

Bindi won Dancing with the Stars in 2015, and ten years later, Robert competed on the show and also won the Mirrorball Trophy.

“To follow in those footsteps and to do the same has meant everything to me,” he told PEOPLE at the time. “This has absolutely changed my life.”

He said that seeing Bindi win years earlier made him realize how winning could help spread the family’s conservation work, Australia Zoo and their charity Wildlife Warriors.

“It’s about making the world a better place. And when I watched her lift that Mirrorball, I saw her lifting that message,” he said.

This May, Terri and Robert spoke to PEOPLE at the Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas about how “incredibly special” it’s been to carry on Steve’s legacy together. “It was a lot of work, it was a lot of grief,” Terri said of her and Robert’s journey. “There were times of great joy. And to be able to have shared that with him was incredibly special — and carry it on.”

She joked there’s one major difference between how Steve and Robert get things done. “But I will say the one thing that Robert’s got that Steve didn’t — Steve never took his shirt off for wildlife,” she said.

Robert, who’s stripped down both on Dancing with the Stars and in an underwear ad for the Australian brand Bonds, said he’s been doing “whatever gets the job done.”
