Sheinelle Jones is making sure her daughter has positive associations with her body.
On a Wednesday, July 15 episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, the 48-year-old mom of three shared how she talks about her own body image around her 14-year-old daughter, Clara.
“You know how you look in the mirror, and you go, ‘Ugh, I feel so fat today?’ Or, ‘Oh, my cheeks!’ ” Jones said to co-host Jenna Bush Hager. “Our daughters — and guys, boys too — are listening and watching.”
“And I noticed that she takes on a lot of my mannerisms. We even dress the same, or we wear headbands,” continued Jones. “And so it goes to show even when you’re not saying it, they’re watching our behavior.”

Bush Hager — who is mom to three, including daughters Mila, 13, and Poppy, 10 — agreed with Jones.

“The way I want her to live is how I’m trying to live, right?” said Jones. “So I don’t want to look in the mirror and disparage the body that’s kept me healthy.”
Alongside Clara, Jones shares her sons, Uche Jr., 14, and Kayin, 16, with her late husband Uche Ojeh, who died at age 45 in May 2025 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer called Glioblastoma.

Earlier this month, Jones shared a special tribute on Instagram as she celebrated her twins Clara and Uche Jr.’s birthday. In the caption, Jones reflected on the memories she and her late husband Ojeh shared with their kids, concluding by saying how “thankful” she is to be their mom.
“14 years ago today … our lives were forever changed. A two for one special!” she wrote, before continuing to reminisce over the memories from the pictures. “In this second picture … I remember placing the twins at the foot of my hospital bed… staring at them in awe … in their little onesies. In the 5th picture, my husband had native wear made for their baby dedication at church; in the 9th pic... I remember their pre school graduation just like it was yesterday. 🥹 Now …. I have three kids in high school! ✨”
“I am so thankful to be their mom … clearly … I even wrote a book about it. 🥰 (All 3 of my children will always be my babies …. no matter how big they get!)” Jones added. “Happy Birthday Clara & Uche! Love you!”
