- Shania Twain is joining the list of celebrities who couldn’t make it to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.

- Though she did get an invite to the star-studded event, Twain had a previous commitment.

- And it happened to involve spending time with one of the bride’s exes.

If you want Shania Twain at your wedding, you better book her far in advance —even if you’re Taylor Swift.

The “You’re Still The One” singer has revealed that she was booked and busy on the night of Swift’s highly publicized Madison Square Garden wedding to Travis Kelce. So while her invite came through, Twain had no choice but to skip the event. Why? Because she already had plans with one of the bride’s exes.

“Taylor Swift invited me to her wedding, and I couldn’t go because I was already committed to Harry’s shows,” Twain told Canadian entertainment show *etalk*, referencing the fact that she served as an opening act for Harry Styles during his 12-show “Together, Together” stadium residency at London’s Wembley Stadium.

“It’s just kind of funny that it happened that way,” Twain said. “I was already committed and I couldn’t go.”

Styles and Swift famously dated from 2012 to 2013, causing a frenzy among their respective fan bases. Although their romance was short-lived, it informed both of the artists’ music and reportedly inspired much of Swift’s 2014 album, *1989*.

When teased by the journalist about picking Styles over Swift, Twain jokingly played along before sharing that she really did want to attend the event.

“No, but I mean I would have done anything to be at Taylor’s wedding,” Twain said. “I would have done anything, and that would have been really lovely for me to be there — but I was with Harry.”

Asked if she would be willing to sing at Styles’ wedding, Twain said that she’d be happy to — assuming she’s available for his wedding date.

“If Harry ever gets married and he wants me at his wedding then he’s going to have to ask me more in advance [than Swift],” Twain quipped. (Should Styles manage to book the Queen of Country Pop in time, it certainly wouldn’t be her first time singing at a celebrity wedding.)

Though Twain couldn’t make it, Swift and Kelce’s wedding wasn’t lacking when it came to star power. Their nuptials at the famed New York City venue welcomed an estimated 1,000 guests, including expected names (Lena Dunham, Ed Sheeran, Jason Kelce, the Haim sisters) and plenty of surprises (Brad Pitt, Karlie Kloss, and Tom Cruise). As for Twain getting an invite, it’s no big shock considering that the mutual admiration between her and Swift dates back several years. The duo performed together at the 2019 American Music Awards, and years later, on the heels of her global Eras Tour, the “That Don’t Impress Me Much” singer praised Swift for her work ethic.

“She is living an exhausting existence, but she’s dedicated and committed to herself, to her art, and her work,” Twain told *Haute Living*. “It isn’t even about ambition, though I’m sure that most people would call her ambitious.”

Even further back, in 2008, Swift detailed meeting Twain for the first time on her blog, dubbing it a career highlight. “Shania Twain walked up and introduced herself to me. Shania Twain, as in the reason I wanted to do this in the first place,” Swift wrote, per *Us Weekly*. “Shania Twain, as in the most impressive and independent and confident and successful female artist ever to hit country music. She walked up to me and said she wanted to meet me and tell me I was doing a great job. She was so beautiful, guys. She really is that beautiful. All the while, I was completely star struck.

Among those who did attend Swift’s wedding was Styles’ fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, who also happens to be close friends with Swift and co-wrote her hit “Lavender Haze.” Kravitz attended the event solo, as Styles was obviously committed to his tour dates.

But Styles did offer a sly nod to his famous ex from afar: During his concert on the night of her wedding, the former One Direction singer gave a surprise performance of “Two Ghosts,” a song believed to be about the end of his relationship to Swift.

Swift and Kelce tied the knot on July 3, after three years of dating. Styles and Kravitz reportedly got engaged in April, after eight months together.
