Selena Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, unleashed some major drama with her latest social media post featuring her daughter. In the cryptic post, Mandy ignited speculation of a rift with her daughter and got the fans talking. While she clarified that it was meant as a “joke” and not to be taken seriously, fans of the singer were left divided over her action.
It all began when Mandy took to her Instagram account to share a photo carousel on Monday, July 13, 2026, which featured Selena and her younger half-sister, Gracie.
However, it was her caption for the post, along with some pensive quotes, that alarmed fans and led to speculation that she might not be very pleased with her daughter.

Sharing a mirror selfie of Selena Gomez and Gracie, along with another stunning selfie of the Same Old Love singer, she shared some quotes that some fans interpreted as being directed at her daughters.
Mandy Teefey shared the quotes that said, “She outgrew what drained her,” while in another slide, she shared, “Just to be clear, I’m that loyal friend who would take a bullet for you. But I’m probably also the reason we’re getting shot at. Balance matters.”
She also shared a quote that showed a doll inside a trash can with the phrase, “Me when I have to run the business I manifested.”
The Wondermind founder captioned the post, stating, “My greatest accomplishments, love me or not. They are the coolest. One day, they will see what a bad-ss I am and love me back as much as I love them. I’m just mom. Who never gives up when they throw me in the trash. I tell ya mom you’re doing it wrong- maybe so; we will see. But no matter what, I got your back.”

The post left some fans to wonder whether everything was OK between the mother and daughter. One of the Instagram users also fumed at Mandy and said in the comments, “If you’re having issues with them, you shouldn’t post this on social media. People will take it out of context and keep hating on Selena. I don’t know what’s going on, but go talk to your daughter instead of creating drama.”
However, Mandy was quick to reply to the comment and clarify, “Girl. It’s typically moms, not cool joke. Calm down, lol.” However, her actions inevitably divided the chatter on social media. While some continued to criticize her, others defended the mother of two by stating that she was simply making what they described as a “mom joke.”
One of the X users shared a screenshot of her post on the platform and said, “Mandy Teefey aka Selena’s mother is mad at her again. One must keep their personal lives to themselves and realize that their daughter is too big of a celebrity to throw such tantrums.”
