Prince William and Kate Middleton may be taking a measured approach to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. The Sussexes’ move has inevitably put the spotlight back on the royal family’s strained relationships.
However, celebrity journalist Rob Shuter claims William and Middleton are unlikely to let the latest developments distract them. Instead, he believes the couple is focused on the bigger picture, with William’s future as king firmly in mind.

According to reports, Prince William and Kate Middleton appear to have bigger priorities than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return. Celebrity journalist Rob Shuter believes they are unlikely to let the Sussexes’ return distract them from their wider responsibilities.
The couple reportedly returned to the UK as private citizens rather than working royals. Their plans to settle back in Britain have also attracted considerable attention. Still, Shuter believes William and Middleton are looking far beyond the immediate headlines.

“They look at this strategy in the long term,” Shuter told NewsNation. He explained that the future king and his wife are focused on a “five-year, a 10-year plan.” Their priority, he suggested, is what the monarchy will look like when William eventually becomes king.
That could mean taking a measured approach to Harry and Markle. According to Shuter, the couple may find the constant coverage frustrating. Yet he believes they will continue concentrating on their royal duties rather than getting pulled into another public dispute. “They have a steel backbone,” Shuter said. He added that they would likely “ignore this circus” and keep doing their work.
Meanwhile, the return could present another challenge. Shuter questioned whether the British public will readily embrace the Sussexes. He pointed to polling that apparently puts Markle’s UK approval at around 18%, while Harry’s is said to be somewhere in the 30s.
Even so, Shuter believes Harry may eventually regain some public goodwill. He suggested that memories of Harry as a young boy walking behind Princess Diana’s coffin remain powerful for many Britons. “The tricky part is going to be Meghan,” he said. In Shuter’s view, Markle could face a harder task when it comes to rebuilding trust.
