The beautiful thing about books, movies, and TV shows is that you spend so much time with the characters and getting to know their stories that you're bound to feel attached to them. Which is why when something bad happens to our favorite characters, it feels personal.
Warner Bros.Recently, we asked BuzzFeed Community members to share the fictional character's death that still haunts them to this day, and if I have to relive some of these, so do you:1. "Newt from The Maze Runner. I refused to finish it for three weeks because Newt wasn't there. The worst part was when I watched the movie. I ate an entire chocolate bunny and cried for hours until my mom told me to shut up."
20th Century Fox2. "It will always, ALWAYS be Leslie from Bridge to Terabithia for me. 😭😭"

3. "Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos. It is my favorite show of all time, and I can't even count how many times I've rewatched it, but each time I do, Adriana's death is one of at least three that were shocking and unnecessary. No one in that show is an angel by any means, but when you follow her character from the beginning, she was just so naive and kind, and just so in love with someone who was lethally insecure and dangerous, living an even more dangerous lifestyle. She definitely didn't deserve what she got, but obviously, for the show and flow of the plot, it was unavoidable. The first time I saw 'Long Term Parking,' I stared at the blank screen for at least five minutes before it ended, before moving on to the next episode. It's been years, and it still rattles me sometimes. 10/10 show, though."
HBO4. "Rue from The Hunger Games. It always makes me cryyyyy."
Lionsgate5. "The Governor in The Walking Dead! Ughhhhh! I am watching it for the first time, and when I got to the Governor, I was in AWE! I freaking loved him! He's an amazing villain, but doesn't go too far into the evil aspect like Neegan. I LOVED THE GOVERNOR."
AMC6. "Joyce Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That scene still hits the same, all these years later."
The WB7. Chrissy from Stranger Things because I feel like they rushed her death SOOO much. She seemed like such a sweet character, and I was so excited to learn more about her, but then you get to the end of the episode, and you have to see her bones cracking. Like, HELLO?!"
Netflix8. "Would have to be Kurt Kunkle from Spree, but honestly, he did deserve it."

9. "Hank and Gomez in Breaking Bad. By the time you kinda like Hank, he's killed."
AMC10. "Definitely Queen Ramonda from Black Panther."
Marvel11. "Sammy from Dance Academy. Maybe it's a deep cut, but my friend and I were traumatized. He was on such a good path, and his death was totally out of the blue — no lead-up, no warning, just gone."
ABC12. "Jason Grace from the Heroes of Olympus series. His death will forever haunt me. 😭😭😭😭😭"

13. "Frank Grimes from The Simpsons is an unusual death because his hatred for Homer is what got him killed. But on the other side, you feel really sorry for him. Plus, he would've been a really good addition to the show to showcase how bad Homer is at his job."
Fox14. "Nor from the Wicked books. She had the most tragic life and heartbreaking death I've ever encountered. 💔"
ReganBooks / Via amazon.com15. "Fred Weasley from Harry Potter. Separating twins like that is cruel."
Warner Bros.16. "Cosette from The Sopranos. Now I always check to see where I'm sitting to make sure my cats aren't near."
HBO17. "Will Gardner on The Good Wife. I cried way too much, and I'm still bitter about it."
CBS18. "Arthur Pendragon from Merlin. 😭 Years later, and I'm still in denial."
BBC19. "Finnick from The Hunger Games. My beloved. I haven't recovered."

20. "I will forever be ****** about Glenn Rhee from The Walking Dead. They ain't have to kill him like that."
AMC21. "Dean Winchester from Supernatural. 'God's Blessing' removed or not, that's not how Dean effing Winchester should have gone out. That was just lazy writing."
Warner Bros.22. "Derek Shepherd from Grey's Anatomy. 😭 145 seasons later, and I'm actually still not over it."
ABC23. Finally: "Sirius Black. J.K. Rowling ****** me off so hard for that. He never should've died."
Warner Bros.I'm in the midst of my bi-yearly Supernatural rewatch and will simply NOT watch the very last episode, thank you. What fictional character's death still lives rent-free in your head? Let us know in the comments, or you can anonymously submit your thoughts using the form below!
