Olivia Rodrigo puts her money where her mouth is. The singer's touring guitarist, Daisy Spencer, recently opened up about how the 22-year-old — who has been a vocal advocate for therapy as the daughter of a family therapist — proved her words aren't just for the show.
During an appearance on the *StageLeft* podcast last week, Spencer revealed that Rodrigo paid for free therapy for both the band and her crew during her *Guts *tour, as well as when they were off the road. The tour kicked off in California Feb. 2024, and kept the Grammy winner on the road through October of that year. The crew picked up again for an international round in January and wrapped on July 1 in Manchester, U.K.
"On the *Guts* World Tour, Olivia and our tour manager, Marty Hom, made accessible and free therapy for all of the touring personnel," Spencer told host Chris Simpson.**
She continued, "I have never had anything like that. "nd that reignited the importance of therapy to me because I had just kind of fallen off for so long, and then suddenly I had this free resource of incredible therapists, and I utilized the crap out of that."

The 31-year-old guitarist said that as a result of Rodrigo's generosity, she was able to see a therapist at least every other week, even when the tour wasn't actively on the road.**
"Honestly, that was one of the coolest things that has ever happened on tour," Spencer said. "Like, seriously, one of the best things you can give to people is accessible free therapy, because it can get kind of expensive."
"It's been a gift for real," she added. "I feel like it is such a gift to be able to look within yourself and have someone else help you bring some stuff out of you that you might otherwise on your own not be able to get there. That's the gift that therapy has given to me, is that I am able to really flesh out some stuff from my childhood that that needed a voice."

Rodrigo, whom Spencer called the "dreamiest boss of all time" at one point, has been open about seeing a therapist as a teen. During an appearance on *CBS Sunday Morning* in 2021, the singer shared that beginning therapy at 16 was a "really big, life-changing moment" that helped her learn a lot about herself.
"A lot of people think, listening to my music, that I'm a really sad, depressed person and that couldn't be farther from the truth," she noted.
She mused how people often brush off her going to therapy by telling her her life is "so great" and questioning the validity of her problems. "I think that's definitely a thing that sometimes older people can do to younger people, too, is kind of trivialize what they're going through just because they're like, 'Eh, they're fine, they're just kids, they'll get through it,'" Rodrigo added. "But it feels so real when you're in it, and it's so valid, and just because it's not an adult problem or you don't have to pay taxes yet or whatever doesn't mean it doesn't hurt."

The former Disney+ star has also made a mark with her bold gestures since she began touring.
In February 2024, she launched the Fund 4 Good (a play on her single "Good 4 U") which funneled a portion of her *Guts* Tour proceeds toward reproductive rights organizations such as the National Network of Abortion Funds in North America. She confirmed on Instagram that for the St. Louis concert, Text Right By You and the Missouri Abortion Fund will be the benefitting orgs.

The following month, she made another bold statement in favor of reproductive rights by giving out free morning-after pills and condoms during tour stops.
Concertgoers who attended a few March 2024 shows were invited to snag a *Guts*-branded package that included two boxes of Julie — an emergency contraceptive that can prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex — along with information on how to access abortion care resources in the state.
A card included with the package read, "Funding abortion? It's a good idea right?" and provided a QR code for fans to donate to the state's abortion fund. The info, Morning-after pills, and condoms were available at booths hosted by the Missouri Abortion Fund and Text Right By You, a youth-focused hotline providing reproductive rights resources.
