Off Campus creator Louisa Levy shares what to expect from season 2.

Levy says the show is roughly adapting "a book per season."

Yes, Hannah and Garrett are still part of season 2, even if they are "teeing up another love story."

This article contains spoilers for season 1 of Off Campus.

From the moment Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli performed the "don't blush" scene during auditions, Off Campus creator Louisa Levy knew they'd found their Hannah and Garrett. And throughout the hit series' first season, the show followed their love story from fake dating (with a side of tutoring) to real love.

But as fans of Elle Kennedy's Off Campus book series know, each book tells a different couple's love story, and that means that Hannah (Bright) and Garrett (Cameli) won't be as prominent in season 2.

"It's a book per season, roughly," Louisa Levy tells Entertainment Weekly. "We are teeing up another love story every season."

However, she's quick to clarify: "It is a little different than theBridgerton model, where that's properly a book per season. We will always have a happily ever after of some kind, and then we'll also have another love story that's left hanging," Levy says. "So that's the structure and the model that we're building. And the reason for that is because this is truly an ensemble, and I want audiences to know what they're tuning in for the following season. I want them to know who they're showing up for and why, and what story needs to get resolved."

Season 1 is the perfect example. Not only did fans watch Hannah and Garrett's love story, but they also watched Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) kick off a romance — one that ended on quite a cliffhanger when Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans) joined the hockey team after sleeping with Allie.

And as someone who grew up in the age of shows like Grey's Anatomy, Levy says the cliffhanger is an important element of this series.

"I wanna give people the happily ever after, that's really important to me, but the hard thing about romances for TV is it doesn't leave a lot of room for cliffhangers. So the beauty of this structure is it allows there to always be something that gets the resolution and then something that's left hanging."

Most importantly, shifting perspectives doesn't mean that audiences will have to say goodbye to any of the other romances. Just as Allie and Dean featured in season 1, Hannah and Garrett are still around in season 2 — not to mention the addition of India Fowler as Logan's (Antonio Cipriano) love interest, Grace.

"Sometimes you fall in love with a couple and then you get their happily ever after and you're like, 'What are they gonna do next season? I don't wanna break them up. But I still wanna watch them.' And we will," Levy says. "Hannah and Garrett are still in season 2. They're still gonna be part of it, but their love story is not the thing that's driving the season anymore."

Off Campus is streaming now on Prime Video.
