The Summer House star reveals she’s in a new relationship on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast

She teased she’s keeping her new relationship private for now and that viewers may learn more about her love life on the Bravo series

Calabrese says messages from women she admires are more exciting than flirtatious DMs

Mia Calabrese is giving love another shot and she couldn’t be happier about it.

The Summer House star, 35, shared the relationship update during a recent appearance on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, revealing that her feelings about dating have changed since she last discussed her love life publicly.

When Hirsch, 38, asked Calabrese if she still felt that way, the reality star seemed surprised by the reminder.

“Did I say that?” she asked.

“Yeah,” Hirsch replied.

“Goddamn. Things have changed,” Calabrese said, before confirming that she was seeing someone new.

Hirsch quickly picked up on Calabrese’s excitement, telling her, “The way your face changed. I feel like it is somebody you’re excited about.”

“I’m very happy,” Calabrese replied.

For now, however, Calabrese is keeping her new romance private. When Hirsch asked if she was keeping things under wraps, the reality star confirmed that she was, at least for the time being.

As for whether her new love interest could make an appearance on Summer House, Calabrese wasn’t giving anything away just yet.

“You’ll have to watch to find,” she teased.

Hirsch, for her part, was already on board.

“I’m going to watch. You don’t have to tease me. I’m going to watch. I’m going to watch it anyway,” she said.

Calabrese is no stranger to sharing her personal life with viewers.

She joined Summer House in season 10, bringing her New York City life and friendships into the Bravo reality series’ annual Hamptons getaway. The season followed the cast’s complicated relationships, shifting friendships and summer romances, giving viewers a closer look at Calabrese’s own dating life.

Hirsch, meanwhile, is the creator and host of Not Skinny But Not Fat, a weekly pop culture podcast known for its candid conversations with celebrities and reality stars. Since launching in 2019, the show has featured guests including Kim Kardashian, Kristen Stewart and Nikki Glaser.

But Calabrese’s podcast appearance wasn’t just about her new romance. She also had some thoughts about sliding into someone’s DMs — and, as it turns out, the most exciting messages in her inbox aren’t necessarily coming from men.

When Hirsch asked whether anyone interesting had been reaching out and brought up Rihanna, Calabrese explained that she much prefers hearing from women she admires.

“People ask me this question all the time: like what guys are sliding your DMs? I’m like, ‘None that I care about.’ But the women are so much cooler.”

Among those who have caught Calabrese’s attention are CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins and The Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Calabrese recalled receiving a message from Collins, 34, and being thrilled by the interaction.

“Caitlyn Collins wrote to me on Instagram the other day and I was like, ‘I’m obsessed with you,’ ” she said.

Calabrese also got excited about hearing from Sigler, 45, who played Meadow Soprano, the daughter of Tony and Carmela Soprano on the HBO series.

For Calabrese, hearing from women she admires can bring on the same butterflies as a romantic interaction, even when the connection is purely platonic.

“But it’s so true. It’s like you get those kinds of same butterflies even though it’s not romantic, but you’re like, ‘a new friend?,’ ” Hirsch said, as the conversation turned to the thrill of making a potential new friend.

“Literally,” Calabrese replied.

The full Mia Calabrese podcast episode can be streamed on Oct. 13. Not Skinny But Not Fat releases new episodes weekly on Tuesdays.
