Melissa Etheridge and her wife, Linda Wallem, are singing their way into another new year of marriage.
The couple celebrated 12 years of marriage on Sunday, May 31, and they marked the occasion by sharing a playful duet. In a video posted on Etheridge's Instagram, the two could be seen sitting together on a porch.
"This is a theme song," Etheridge began singing as Wallem joined in. The women, both 65, continued while giggling, "Do you want to sing along?"
Etheridge then paused and said to Wallem, "Who are you?" before telling the camera, "She's married for 12 years lady."
Wallem then chimed in, "You know what, it's our anniversary today and happy anniversary."
After singing a bit more, Etheridge shared that the pair went back to the place where they got married earlier that day. "It was really fun, and we ate food and walked around and remembered what it was like," the musician said, adding, "It's fun being married for a long time."

Etheridge and Wallem, who met in the early 2000s, were best friends for 10 years before they began dating. Wallem moved in with Etheridge and her four children — Bailey, Beckett, Johnnie and Miller — in 2010 following the "Come to My Window" singer's split from Tammy Lynn Michaels.
What started as a built-in support system for the family in the wake of the divorce eventually turned into a romance for Etheridge and Wallem.
“I had so much fun with her as a person. We were able to slowly step into it, and it was so perfect,” Etheridge told PEOPLE in 2024 of how their relationship developed organically. “Life is not just second chances — life is always chances. There’s no, 'Well, that’s just the way it is.' We can always make a different choice.”

The pair — who share the same birthday — wed on May 31, 2014, just two days after both turning 53. They held an intimate outdoor ceremony at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif., joined by Etheridge's children and several famous friends, including Jane Lynch, Chelsea Handler, Whitney Cummings and Sia.
For their vows, Etheridge performed a new love song she wrote especially for the wedding. “She sang her vows to me, which is pretty hard to follow,” Wallem told Variety at the time. “It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.”
In a 2011 interview, Etheridge credited their foundation of friendship for their strong marriage.
"She was my best friend for nine years, so it's an interesting relationship. I've never been friends with someone for that long and then entered into a romantic relationship,” the musician told Revueat the time. "Usually, it's that you enter a romantic relationship and hope you can be friends.”
Etheridge added, "She's my friend, and it's really pretty amazing. I'm happier than I've ever, ever been."
