Meghan Trainor opened up about the backlash she received for using a surrogate to have her third child.

"It was a cloud of tears every night," the singer said in a new interview.

Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabara, welcomed their daughter, Mikey Moon, in January.

The singer spoke about the joys of welcoming her third child, a baby girl named Mikey Moon, via surrogate in a new interview, also detailing the backlash she received for her decision.

Trainor said she had an "amazing" surrogate, recalling how they were in constant communication, on the April 9 episode of Kylie Kelce's podcast, Not Gonna Lie. "She was just a champ," gushed Trainor, adding that she could be "more present" after Mikey was born because she wasn't recovering from a C-section.

However, after announcing Mikey's arrival in January, she saw some fans commenting that she named her daughter "via surrogate."

"I was like, 'Oh, they hate me now. They ain't going to like this,'" Trainor recalled thinking at the time. "And it was a cloud of tears every night of just worry. I want my daughter to come to this world and not have everyone attack her for the way she got here. And all of that went through my head. But my team was with me, my therapist is with me … Everyone was so supportive."

"And this was the healthiest way," she continued, adding that the negative response "didn't damper anything" and that she was in "baby bliss" the first week after Mikey was born.

Trainor's husband, Daryl Sabara, also stayed positive after the backlash, reminding her that her real fans had her back. "My husband's like, 'Honestly, if anyone says stupid s--- your fans come and defend you,'" she said.

Still, she found certain criticism baffling, like when moms "got mad" at her for wearing hospital scrubs in the Instagram picture she posted after giving birth.

"When I did skin to skin, they were like, 'Why would you pretend like you gave birth?' And I was like, 'What?'" she recalled. "'So they've never been in a hospital. Like, they don't know anything about what's going on.' And then when I heard they thought I named her 'via surrogate,' I was like, 'Okay, I know who I'm dealing with now. I really don't care about their opinion.'"

Kelce agreed. "I think the important thing to remember is that you made a very intentional decision to grow your family," she said. "You have the most beautiful baby girl now and … You didn't have to compromise your own health to be able to achieve that. And ultimately, you guys are happy and healthy, and that's what matters."

Trainor and Sabara married in 2018 and also share two sons, Riley, 4, and Barry, 2. They announced Mikey Moon's arrival earlier this year, thanking their "incredible superwoman surrogate" along with the doctors and nurses who helped along the way.

"We had endless conversations with our doctors in this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family," the pop star wrote at the time. "We are over the moon in love with this precious girl. Riley and Barry have been so excited. They even got to choose her middle name. We are going to enjoy our family time now. Love you all.🩷🥹🎀,"
