Burglars attempted to break into the home of Barcelona and Spain superstar Lamine Yamal in the wake of the European champions reaching the World Cup final.

Yamal, 19, Spain’s Golden Boy, helped the one-time world champions reach their first World Cup final since their 2010 win over the Netherlands, playing 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over one of the favorites, France. The Barcelona winger has one goal to his name in seven outings in North America, and will suit up again in Sunday’s final against one of the defending champions, Argentina or England.

However, as Spain celebrated their win, Yamal’s Barcelona home was subject to a burglary attempt. It comes after France stars issued a bitter response to their defeat to Spain despite losing to La Roja in three crunch games in the last three summers, including the 2024 Euros semifinal.

Police reported a break-in attempt at a property in Esplugues de Llobregat, in Barcelona’s outskirts. Officials refused to confirm who owned the home, which was the subject of two masked men trying to gain entry.

However, according to Barcelona-based daily La Vanguardia, the masked burglars were met by private security guards and fled after climbing the property’s walls.
