Justin Timberlake is taking legal action to prevent a video of his 2024 DWI arrest from being released.
The onetime NSYNC member, 45, was detained in the Hamptons, a wealthy enclave of Long Island, New York, in June 2024, for driving while intoxicated. Now, Timberlake's lawyers are reportedly asking a judge to block bodycam footage of the arrest from being made public, arguing it would be a violation of privacy, NBC and News 12 report.
"The harm from public exposure—stigma, harassment, reputational injury, and the permanent loss of privacy—is immediate and irreparable," the singer's lawyers said in court documents, per NBC. The town of Sag Harbor, where Timberlake was arrested, had originally planned to release some of the footage, according to the outlet, but has now paused while legal teams negotiate.
USA TODAY has reached out to Tiberlake's reps and local authorities for comment.
Justin Timberlake pleads guilty to driving while impaired, to do community service
Timberlake's camp is arguing that the video is not of public concern and captures private moments outside the scope of his arrest.
"The bodycam footage captures approximately eight (8) hours of continuous recording and encroaches upon areas of Petitioner’s life and emotional state that have no relevance at all to Petitioner's arrest," Edward D. Burke Jr., one of the singer's lawyers, wrote in documents, per NBC.

Justin Timberlake's arrest, statement elicited a cruel response. Why?
Timberlake pleaded guilty in September 2024 to driving while impaired, agreeing to pay a fine and serve 25 to 40 hours of community service at a nonprofit of his choice.
"I try to hold myself to a very high standard. And this was not that," Timberlake told reporters outside the courtroom at the time. "I'd like to say to everyone watching and listening, even if you had one drink, don't get behind the wheel of a car. There's so many alternatives. Call a friend, take an Uber."
Timberlake was pulled over in his 2025 BMW after failing to stop at a stop sign and "maintain his lane of travel," according to Sag Harbor police. He told police at the time he had one martini, according to a report by The New York Times.
The singer was held overnight following his arrest and was released without bail following an arraignment. Timberlake didn't submit to an alcohol test, which comes with a one-year driver's license suspension in New York.
