Jeremy Renner is ready to slip into those purple tights again.

The star says that since recovering from his devastating 2023 snowplow accident, he's been gearing up for a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as his character Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye.

"I'm always happy to be in that world, man," he said in a new interview with *Empire*. "I love all those guys. I love the character."

Renner added that he's "sure" Marvel will "end up doing" a second season of the Disney+ streaming series *Hawkeye*, which premiered in December 2021 and trailed Clint's adventures after the events of *Avengers: Endgame. *

The six-episode series followed Clint in the days before Christmas, with Hailee Steinfeld playing his arrow-slinging protégé, Kate Bishop, while Florence Pugh portrayed Yelena Belova and Vincent D'Onofrio starred as Wilson Fisk.

"I'm happy to do it," Renner said of reprising his role for the series and other MCU projects. "My body's getting ready for something like that. I don't know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights."

It's been more than two years since the actor's nearly fatal accident, in which he was run over by a snowplow at his Nevada vacation home while trying to prevent the vehicle from hitting his nephew. He was airlifted to the hospital and suffered severe injuries as a result of the New Year's Day incident, with Renner revealing on social media that he had broken more than 30 bones and had a collapsed lung.

Renner told *Empire *that after countless physical therapy sessions, he feels like he's at a point where he could pull off Hawkeye's signature moves.

"I'm more than 150 percent of what I was prior to the incident," he said. "Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that's what's gotten me back. And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I've been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn't if I didn't get crushed."

The news is a notable change from Renner's remarks back in May, when he said during an interview on the *High Performance* podcast that he'd declined reprising his role for *Hawkeye *season 2 because of a salary dispute.**

"They asked me to do season 2, and they offered me half the money," the *Avengers* alum claimed. "I'm like, 'Wow, it's going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money? So eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount?'"

He continued, "I'm like, 'I'm sorry? Why? Do you think I'm only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that's why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.' This is not Marvel, mind you. This is, like, just Disney — not even really Disney. It's just the penny pinchers, the accountants."

Renner claimed that he rejected the "insult offer," adding that he "told them to go fly a kite."

"So we didn't see eye to eye on it," he continued. "Sadly, I still love the character. I'd still love to do it, but I had to defend myself. I didn't ask for any more money, mind you. Just pay me what I made [in] the first season. So it's all disheartening that that didn't happen, but that's fine."

A Disney insider disputed Renner’s claims but declined to give any details.

While chatting with EW earlier this year, Marvel's head of television, Brad Winderbaum, said the studio has been "looking for opportunities" to revisit *Hawkeye*, noting that it has plenty of potential for a second season "because it's Christmas" and "because it's Clint and Kate."**
