Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma tend to see eye-to-eye when it comes to music.

In an interview with Dakota Fanning for Interview magazine, published on Monday, Feb. 23, the 38-year-old pop star insisted that she and her husband, 38, “literally never fight,” despite having collaborated on her latest album, luck… or something.

“Everyone’s like, ‘How is it working with your husband? Do you guys fight a lot?’ I’m like, ‘We literally never fight,’ ” Duff explained to the actress, 32. “Well, that’s not true. We have one drag-out fight once a year.”

“He actually brought it up the other day,” she continued of her husband, with whom she shares daughters Banks, Mae and Townes. “He was like, ‘We haven’t had a fight in such a long time.’ I’m like, ‘Are you ready?’ ”

The Disney Channel alum, who also shares son Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie, went on to recall throwing Koma’s phone “in a Bougainvillea bush” during their last argument.

“It was during the fires,” she noted, referring to the major wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles in January 2025. “We had been displaced, we had all the f---ing kids, and we just needed to have it out. But we don’t usually fight.”

Rather than fighting, Duff emphasized that Koma has been an incredible sense of comfort to her throughout the process of creating her album and gearing up for her Lucky Me Tour.

“The comfort I feel, having that guy in my corner — it sounds so cheesy to say, but waking up every day and taking on the things in our world — we’re such a unit,” she said. “Growing up in the industry, I felt like a lone rider for such a long time.”

“That’s such a dorky word, but I was like, 'I’m tough. I’ve got this,’ ” she added. “It took me a really long time to accept how much he could take off of my plate.”

The Lizzy McGuire star also didn’t hesitate to highlight how “insanely talented” Koma is as an award-winning musician who has made music “all day, every day since he was 15 years old.”

"I wasn’t interested in making a record with anyone else,” she recalled telling him. “I was like, ‘It has to just be me and you.’ ”

“He definitely elevates me and my taste beyond belief,” she continued. “It was important we weren’t swinging for some hit. After 10, 15 years of not making a record, I wanted it to feel like a body of work for people who grew up listening to me and waited a really long time to hear from me. It feels really cohesive.
