For those licking their chops just waiting for New York Giants second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart to slip up, you might be waiting a long time. He seems to get better with every passing day.

Dart came into this summer fully aware of all of his shortcomings and faults. He's worked on improving in those areas, and it has shown in his performance.

At the Giants' brawl-laden joint practice against the Miami Dolphins in steamy South Florida on Thursday, Dart was as cool as one could be. He didn't look like a young quarterback about to regress. He looked like a player who's about to take off.

Sorry, haters.

Does not just excel on the field; he excels off it, too. Many young players would fold under the pressure of the Big Apple media crush and the bright lights. Dart embraces those things. He was made for this city.

He stood before the media after practice and modestly critiqued his performance, which was described as "eye-popping" by some.

Dart has not only gained the confidence of his teammates; he's won over his new coaching staff, too. Those coaches want to temper him, but they're going to have a tough time doing that.

His improvisational skills are just too great to attempt to subdue.
