In March of 2024, before filming began on *Gen V* season 2, the cast and crew faced the unimaginable.
Chance Perdomo, one of the main leads of *The Boys* spinoff, died at the age of 27 from a motorcycle accident. Aside from the emotional impact this moment left on everyone involved in the show, the writers, including showrunner Michele Fazekas, decided not to recast Perdomo's role of Andre Anderson, but instead would "recraft our season 2 storylines" and pay tribute to their fallen star.
Sitting with ** at San Diego Comic-Con, Fazekas and her stars opened up about how Gen V season 2 honors Perdomo.

That was "probably the No. 1 thing we wanted to do," Fazekas says. "Just watching the show and watching even just the trailer for it...we did it so long ago and I remember being in the writer's room and talking about how important it was to honor him. And then when you watch the show, he exists throughout the entire season. It was, in many ways, about Andre and about Chance. And, yeah, I'm very proud of that actually."
Based on the trailer released so far, it's fair to assume the way this plays out involves Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity, Andre's father. He's clearly now searching for his missing son, who was locked away with Jaz Sinclair's Marie Moreau, London Thor and Derek Luh's Jordan Li, and Lizze Broadway's Emma Meyer after that bloodbath of a season 1 finale.

"We were a week away from shooting when Chance passed away tragically," Eric Kripke, showrunner of *The Boys* and architect of the TV franchise, previously shared with EW. "So we had to almost rethink everything, and in just a matter of weeks. But what I tell people when they say 'wow, that's really crazy or difficult' [is] that pales in comparison to what his friends and loved ones are going through. It's the least we could do."
Sinclair, Thor, Luh, Maddie Phillips (Cate Dunlap), and Hamish Linklater (Dean Cipher) also joined Fazekas in EW's Comic-Con suite ahead of the big *Gen V* panel on Friday.
