Jay Weinberg opened up about his departure from Suicidal Tendencies.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, the former Slipknot drummer spoke about his decision to leave Suicidal Tendencies in an Instagram post.

"As an exciting and busy 2026 takes shape, I’d like to thank @suicidaltendencies for bringing me onboard for an incredible year and a half of shows!" Jay, 35, began the post. "What an absolute blast."

The rocker, who is the son of Bruce Springsteen’s longtime E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, then revealed that expecting his first child with wife Chloe Weinberg he will be shifting his focus elsewhere.

"I’ve been dedicating time to passion projects like @portraitsofanapparition, a growing series of collaborations, finally building a proper at-home creative space, and some new in-the-works projects that I can’t quite announce just yet (šŸ‘€)," said Jay.

He continued, "Although there’s a lot of work left to complete over the next five months, it’s been a joy to commit to finally getting these things across their artistic finish lines before my focus naturally shifts to becoming a first-time father."

Jay then shared how much reverence he has for his fellow bandmates in Suicidal Tendencies and their fans."Though I won’t be jamming with the fellas, I can’t possibly overstate the love and respect I have for them, the Suicidal Army and extended family, and all the cyco fans I’ve met across six continents playing shows with one of my favorite bands!" he said.Added Jay, "You guys picked up a friend when he was down, and gave him the opportunity to truly feel the message of 'You Can’t Bring Me Down' at a time when he needed it the most. I can’t thank you enough for that, and I can’t wait to see what you all do next."

He noted that he can't consider his life as a drummer without the "profound influence" of Suicidal Tendencies. So many of my drumming heroes have added to the historic legacy of this band, and it’s the honor of a lifetime to contribute to it myself in some way," said Jay.

In November 2025, Jay and Chloe announced they were expecting their first child in November 2025 on Instagram.

"Embarking on our most exciting adventure yet," they captioned the post.

After Slipknot announced in November 2023 that Jay was no longer a member of the heavy metal group, he said that he was ā€œheartbroken and blindsidedā€ by the news. In an Instagram post shared days later, he revealed he received the news over the phone and reflected on his 10 years with the band.

ā€œI was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after,ā€ Jay wrote in the caption of a photo of himself behind a drum kit, referring to the now-deleted statement Slipknot posted on their website and social media one week prior.

He added, ā€œHowever, I’ve been overwhelmed by — and truly grateful for — the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home."

Jay then noted it wasn't the ending of his journey "by a long shot."

Slipknot announced that they had made the ā€œcreative decision … to part waysā€ with Weinberg in a statement to fans in November 2023.

ā€œWe would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past 10 years,ā€ the statement read. ā€œNo one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it.ā€

They clarified that ā€œSlipknot is intent on evolvingā€ despite the change.
