Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-round pick Chris Braswell is looking for another opportunity in the NFL after the Houston Texans waived him on Tuesday.
As reported by Greg Auman of FOX Sports, Braswell was inactive for Houston's victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and has yet to appear in a game this season. The Texans also confirmed the roster move in their official transaction report.
Tampa Bay selected Braswell with the 57th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, hoping the former Alabama standout could develop into another productive piece of its pass rush. However, that production never materialized during his two seasons with the Buccaneers.

Braswell appeared in all 34 regular-season games during his time in Tampa Bay but never made a start. According to Pro-Football-Reference, he finished with 48 combined tackles, 2.5 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 forced fumble.
The Buccaneers moved on from Braswell during their final roster cuts in August, ending his tenure just two years after investing a second-round selection in him. Houston added him to its practice squad in September before signing him to the active roster later that month.
Now, Braswell finds himself searching for another chance without having played a regular-season snap in 2026. At just 24 years old, he still has time to find his footing elsewhere, but his latest release is another setback for a former high draft pick who has struggled to establish himself at the NFL level.
