Fox's hit medical drama, Doc Season 3, is back with another episode this week. Titled Great Expectations, the episode dropped on October 13, 2026, on Fox at 9 PM ET/PT. In this episode, Amy and Ben are stuck when their cancer patient demands something impossible. Jake discovers a senior Westside surgeon has botched a surgery, leaving him in a shaky position where he must decide whether to speak out or not. Sonya receives life-altering news.

In this week's episode, some of the biggest bonds are put to the test.

Here's what happened in Doc Season 3 Episode 4.

The episode starts with Bonnie, an archaeology professor, and her ex-wife, Cece, talking in a hospital corridor. Cece encourages her that she will get better, but Bonnie eventually collapses. Elsewhere, Sonya asks Amy to do an ultrasound. Amy agrees and finds that Sonya is seven weeks pregnant. Sonya decides to keep the baby. Amy finds out that Sonya hasn't spoken to TJ about the pregnancy yet. In the end, Sonya tells TJ about her pregnancy.

For most of the episode, Amy and Ben struggle with how to treat Bonnie, a cancer patient with an inoperable tumour. Things turn complex when Bonnie's connection to Amy's past is revealed. She is the former wife of Cece, one of Amy's past patients, who obviously has no idea that Amy had been demoted after the life-altering accident and has lost her memory. Amy has saved Cece's life twice.

Ben and Amy disagree over the best course of treatment. Amy's treatment plans initially backfire and the patient slips into a coma. Michael steps in to monitor the patient. In the end, Ben, Amy, and Michael successfully treat the patient.

The viewers get a flashback of their time at medical conferences. There was clearly a romantic spark between the two in the past. However, what stands out is their professional relationship. Back in the past, Amy was helping Ben with a clinical trial, but she wasn't satisfied with the results. Ben wants to introduce it to Westside. What would happen if Amy found out about it? This clinical trial in the upcoming episodes might be a major point of conflict between them.
