Dax Shepard knows how to have a good laugh — even at his own expense!
While speaking to Access Hollywood at the 2026 Golden Globes, the podcast host addressed comments made by Cher on the Monday, Jan. 5 episode of his Armchair Expert podcast.
During the episode, Cher told Shepard that his wife Kristen Bell deserves a better partner. However, according to Shepard, the legendary singer's comments were all in good fun.

"I think we both expected that," said Shepard of Cher's comments. "That's why you love Cher, which couldn't be greater."
Monica Padman, Shepard's co-host, chimed in to say that "there was a couple big headlines, but people need to go listen to the whole thing because everything she [Cher] says is perfect."
Shepard later reiterated his sentiments about Cher's appearance on the podcast, saying, "We thought it was hysterical."

During the podcast, Shepard didn't shy away from the fact that Cher doesn't approve of him Bell's partner.
“Who would be your dream partner for her? 'Cause I know you think she could do better, and I don't disagree,” Shepard said of Bell, who also appeared on the episode.
Although Cher couldn't think of anyone, she noted, "The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don't see."
Cher met Bell when they costarred in 2010's Burlesque. Bell and Shepard got engaged that same year and tied the knot in 2013. They share daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11.

"I'll tell you the thing that you should like about me," Shepard said as he pleaded his case to Cher. "I'm not threatened by her shining. Love it. The shinier she gets, the better."
After Cher noted that her boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards has that similar trait, Bell referred to both of their beaus as "guys who polish you so you shine more.”
“I adore you, and I understand nobody's good enough for her," Shepard later told Cher.
Bell told Cher that Shepard is "almost too good for me," referring to him as a “slow burn."

"You seem like a good dad," Cher told Shepard.
Bell agreed, calling her husband, "the best dad there ever was."
Armchair Expert was nominated for the first Golden Globe for Best Podcast, but lost to Good Hang with Amy Poehler.
