In a new interview at the premiere of Hoppers, Dave Franco revealed how he celebrated his ninth wedding anniversary early with Alison Brie
The Together stars tied the knot in an intimate wedding in 2017
Franco and Brie met while celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2011
Dave Franco and Alison Brie kicked off their wedding anniversary festivities early this year.
Franco, 40, and Brie, 43, tied the knot in March 2017, and will celebrate nine years of marriage next month. During an interview with E! News at the premiere of Franco's new Disney Pixar movie Hoppers at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, on Monday, Feb. 23, the actor let slip that he and Brie "actually celebrated early" with a fun mini getaway.
Despite the pair being "pretty low-key with anniversaries in general," they recognize that their ninth anniversary is "a big one," and wanted to do something extra special to celebrate.

"We went to Ojai last weekend," Franco shared. "We’re really good at getting in those mini trips where you can just get in the car and go somewhere a couple hours away."
The Regretting You star explained that with his and his wife's busy work schedules, it can be difficult to squeeze in time together, but they try to make the most out of those rare moments.
“We don't get to see each other a ton. So when we do, we're like, ‘Let's go on a trip. Let's go to the middle of nowhere. Let's have that nice time together,' " Franco told the outlet. “So, Ojai was our trip for our ninth anniversary.”

While chatting with Entertainment Tonight at the same event, Franco revealed the key to his marriage.
"Honestly, I think it's about being friends above anything else," he said. "You gotta want to hang out with this person, and you gotta be able to laugh with them."
The Now You See Me star continued, "Like, I don't care if someone doesn't think they're funny. Like, you can be funny to the right person. Find that person who you laugh with, and that's so, so important."

Franco and Brie met at the 2011 Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans, and announced their engagement in August 2015. About two years later, the pair wed in an intimate, family-only ceremony on the balcony of their home in Los Angeles. Afterward, they had a pizza party with 60 friends at Pizzeria Mozza.

Hoppers, in which Franco voices a villainous insect, hits theaters on Friday, March 6.
