Ja’Kobi Lane could return Sunday against Cleveland, giving the Ravens a chance to see whether their rookie receiver can carry his impressive summer into an offense led by Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Lane is eligible to resume practicing this week after missing four games on injured reserve. Coach Jesse Minter said, according to Brian Wacker, that he could be ready for Week 6.

The third-round pick generated considerable attention during training camp and caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown in his preseason debut. His 6-foot-4 frame and ability to finish difficult catches offered Baltimore another option downfield and near the goal line.

That momentum stalled when Lane injured his wrist in the opener against Indianapolis. He caught one pass for 11 yards and a touchdown that was erased by a holding penalty before he underwent surgery.

He would return to a receiving corps with two established targets producing. Flowers leads Baltimore with 26 catches for 405 yards and two touchdowns, while Bateman has 16 receptions for 233 yards and a score. Together, they caught 13 passes for 115 yards in Sunday’s overtime win over Atlanta.

That gives Lane an opportunity to complement the passing game without immediately carrying it. His size could provide a different matchup alongside Flowers and Bateman, while Devontez Walker remains another option after catching the late touchdown that helped Baltimore force overtime.

The first question is whether Lane is healthy enough to play. If cleared, the next is how quickly he can rebuild his timing and turn his preseason flashes into regular-season production.
