He's leaking! He's leaking!

Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon is a true hockey star. He can score goals, he can brawl it out with the best of them, and he knows how to bleed like a real man.

The reigning winner of the NHL's Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, MacKinnon traded punches with Stars center Roope Hintz during Tuesday's game between Colorado and Dallas. (RELATED: Winless Flyers Break Franchise Record For Worst Start To Season Ever)

At the middle point of the second period, MacKinnon and Hintz were battling in the Avalanche's zone as the former knocked the latter with cross-checks. Following the Stars forward taking a swipe himself, each player dropped their gloves and began to fight it out.

Both got in punches, however, Hintz in particular popped MacKinnon with not one, not two, but three hard rights, and one of them clipped MacKinnon directly on his nose. The center for the Avalanche ended up covered in blood, and as a result, he had to be stitched up in the locker room.

WATCH:

I love sports, obviously, but I can't help but notice that this realm gets increasingly sanitized as we progress. Athletes get coddled by overprotective referees and endless rule tweaks too much, and it's annoying.

This is why hockey has put themselves in the "cool" lane in today's climate, because while political correctness unfortunately still exists, Nathan MacKinnon and Roope Hintz didn't give two damns and beat the living hell out of each other. And we even got bloodshed!

God bless hockey, and God bless America.
