3 Steelers breakout candidates on offense in 2026
All the focus this offseason has been on the offensive side of the football for the Pittsburgh Steelers. New head coach Mike McCarthy brings in an offensive mindset and the team has worked hard to rebuild this side of the football. Under former head coach Mike Tomlin, the defense was forced to carry the team and just hope for enough from the offense but this shouldn't be the case in 2026.
Here are our three breakout candidates for 2026.
Center Zach Frazier
Last season, Frazier graded out as the No. 8 center in the NFL in just his second season. The AFC has some of the best centers in the league, led by Kansas City Chiefs Creed Humphrey and Las Vegas Raiders' Tyler Linderbaum. But this season, we expect Frazier to take his spot with this trio in just his third year in the league.

Wide receiver Roman Wilson
If not Roman Wilson, who? And if not now, when? Wilson's only competition to be the team's No. 3 receiver is rookie Germie Bernard. Wilson's in the ideal situation. Any issues with Wilson and the previous staff or system are long gone, and if Wilson can stay healthy, he has a chance to have a significant impact.
Quarterback Will Howard
Just hear us out. We don't expect Will Howard to be the starting quarterback in in 2026 unless Aaron Rodgers suffers some sort of catastrophic injury. But between now and the start of the season, Howard has a perfect chance to break out and separate himself from the rest of the other quarterbacks on the roster and set himself up for the future.
